- WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE TEEN CLASS -
When we started Nature Kids Connect the oldest of our kids were only 8 years-old. It's been 7 years and the needs of our children have evolved.
Our intent in creating the Teen Class is to continue to provide outdoor experiences for our children to be with friends away from screens.
Another goal we had in mind was to provide activities that will push our children's boundaries.
The activities done in this class are chosen by the students enrolled in the Leadership Class, so there may be instances where they will choose to hire an outside instructor to teach a specific skill. In such instances, the pricing of these classes will be extra beyond the Teen Class tuition and participation in these classes are optional.
The kids in the Leadership Class will also be planning fundraising activities. The funds raised will be used to pay for adventures that require funds beyond the $100 tuition for the Teen Class.
Stephanie Olmo and Sasha Johnson will be coordinating Outdoor Adventures specifically for the students in the Teen Class. These adventures may take place during the Friday class and can extend beyond the class time and possibly overnight as well. Ample time will be given to notify students of the dates of these activities so you can plan around them.
Some of these adventures are going to be really tough but your teens will come away from these adventures with a sense of accomplishment which they can draw on when they go through a tough time in life. These adventures are the backbone in building their resilience that they will undoubtedly need in navigating a life that is increasingly uncertain due to rapid technological advances. By experiencing these tough adventures in the company of friends, they will also develop a deep bond with their peers and build lasting memories for years to come.
